'Something Missed'
'Something Missed'
One in a series of paintings in which I was thinking about the relationships between people and landscape, between urban and rural and also the nostalgia for a simpler time forever lost to climate change. I was aware of feeling a sense of yearning in painting this piece and I wanted that to infiltrate the work.
Since I was a child I've been drawn to the stark clean lines of pylons against the sky, and in my adult life that attraction has grown to include structures like this roller coaster (which incidentally is from Weston-super-Mare, England). Alongside the pleasing graphic quality I find there's a poignancy and power to such structures.
The teasels and roller coaster are image transfers taken from my own photos.
Acrylic and image transfer on 75cm x 75cm stretched canvas.
Varnished, fitted with picture cord and ready to hang or can be shipped unstretched with the frame dismantled.
