Commonly perceived to be an angel but to me the wing is more symbolic than angelic. I have a long-held fascination with the idea of humans growing wings, inspired by the novels ‘Nights At The Circus’ (Angela Carter) and ‘Mr. Pye’ (Mervin Peake). The idea of finding one’s ‘wings’ in a psychological sense is a metaphor I closely identify with.
